Candice Gordon (IE)

Berlin based Dubliner Candice Gordon mixes elements of post-punk and psych with existential poetics. There are moments in her music of total bleakness, haunting, and gloomy, but to remedy that she injects doses of tongue-in-cheek humour and playfulness.

She spent the first years of her life in Botswana before emigrating to Ireland. Her musical experience was forged on the streets of Dublin before she moved to the South of France and then joining a traveling circus. While working as a circus performer she met punk legend Shane MacGowan who mentored her and recorded her debut EP ‘Before the Sunset Ends’ which garnered critical acclaim:

“Sweetly dark folk-tinged music, like ‘Murder Ballads’ era Bad Seeds.”Time Out London
“the greatest song never to feature on the Twin Peaks soundtrack” – 9 / 10 Hotpress
“Brooding atmospheric songwriting packed with ominous poetics and powerful vocals.”Clash

She then began touring in Germany, made the move to Berlin, and recorded her debut album ‘Garden of Beasts’, also designing and releasing an accompanying perfume ‘In Golden Dreams’:
” Candice Gordon is bound for greatness” The 405 (8/10)
“Woozy, immersive” The Independent
“Dark Brilliance” DIY

The Kids are Alt-Right is her latest single, an impenetrable garage-rock, sardonic and tounge-in-cheek observation of the alt-right culture and the conditions that encourage it.
